The week is behind you; the world is in front of you. Endless possibilities await. Will you make yourself bacon and eggs and then read the newspaper? Maybe you're off on a road trip upstate with the kids or some pals. There’s always the possibility you could enjoy an ol' hippy speedball and have yourself a zooted start to the day. Or perhaps you just sleep and wake up at noon because you can do that kind of thing.
Because, man, it’s Saturday.
For me, this sacred day has always been about listening to music. Putzing around the apartment, doing this or that and that or this, letting whatever I'm in the mood for wash over me. This moment in time is a beautiful place of in-between, a calamity where the fear and anxieties of every day life are paused.
In that spirit, I'd like to welcome you to the first edition of COOL MUSIC's SATURDAZE. Each week on Saturday (or so), you'll receive a playlist as the sun rises for the weekend. The track selections will be from my brain, pulling a blend of old tunes and new music. Most importantly, I promise these playlists will be meticulously considered and organized (don’t worry, I will be thinking about dorky stuff, like how certain guitar tones need to transition into lo-fi experimental howling). Some editions will be long, others will be short, and most will be somewhere in between. Maybe you'll find a new favorite song or maybe you'll be reminded of an old song that you love. The only goal is of this series is simply to improve your Saturday, even if that’s just a little bit.
